Custom «What is Education?» Essay Paper Sample
French novelist Anatole France wrote: "An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It's being able to differentiate between what you do know and what you don't." In addition to that there is an African saying that says “Ukidhani elimu ni ghali jaribu ujinga” (If you think education is expensive, try stupidity). It is for this reason that I wish to submit my application to be enrolled in your highly respected medial institution. Life is precious and also it is a journey, the more we live, the more we learn; it is however sad to note that most young people have chosen to learn things that will not help them grow in their academic or career life but they concentrate more on their social life and other vices. This is the one culture I wish not to be part of. As a young student who has passion for medicine and desire to help the less fortunate members of the society, I feel that by enrolling in your institution I will not only have fulfilled my dream of pursuing my course in one of the best learning institutions in the country but I will be able to use the little knowledge gained to advance my studies and learn what I don’t know about medicine.
The question that you might ask is “why medicine?” In the modern day world, there are numerous diseases that have been caused as a result of poor eating habits among the people as well as the eating of genetically modified foods. By pursuing a course in medicine, I will be able to help in combating diseases caused by the poor lifestyle that most people are leading. Some of the diseases that I believe I will help fight is cancer which is more dangerous than HIV/AIDS although very few people talk about it. After my studies, I hope I will get a chance to work among the less fortunate members of the society especially in Africa and other third world nations.
